Hi guys! Here is another extremely late 2019 wrap up post. XD This time I am doing another survey, but this time we are focusing more on stats! This survey is hosted by Brittany @ The Book Addict’s Guide, but I left out some questions so as not to repeat similar ones in other wrap up posts and to shorten it as much as I could.
- Number of books read… (I’m changing the page ranges from 50’s to 100’s cuz that’s how I did it in my stats and it makes it easier for me.)
- Total: 56
- Under 200 pages: 3
- Over 200 pages: 8
- Over 300 pages: 17
- Over 400 pages: 10
- Over 500 pages: 2
- Number of…
- Audiobooks: 22
- Re-reads: 4
- DNFs (did not finish): 9
- Number of books rated…
- Five Stars: 11
- One/Two Stars: 4
- Number of authors met in 2019: None.
- Number of book events attended in 2019: Does a library sale and Nanowrimo write-ins count? XD
- Number of books you read in one day: 10 (But only because they were all audiobooks, and one was a really short ebook.)
- Number of books that made you cry: I think that there were at least 9 that I came close, but maybe only a couple where I actually did? I don’t remember.
- Number of 2019 books you have on pre-order: None, but there’s two I have my eye on.
Book read furthest away from home (vacation reads?):
The only place I went last year was on a short little day trip to a town a couple hours away, and we ate at this restaurant that had a nice outdoor area and I remember reading this while waiting for our burgers. 😛 That’s the closest I can come up with. XD
Book that took you the longest to read:
Also this one. I challenged myself to read an entire book outside during the summer, and for some reason I thought this 464 paged historical fiction would be a good idea for that? XD It was hard for me to find time to read outside, and it took me from the end of May to the middle of September to finish! XD Almost FOUR MONTHS!!! O.o
Book that you personally connected with the most:
Uuuugggghhhh this question is so hard. XD I couldn’t choose between these four because I connect so much emotionally to each of them in different ways.
Book that made you love the villain:
I don’t normally side with the villain like…ever, but this one I came the closest. I didn’t like her when Cath eventually became the villain, which isn’t a spoiler cuz it’s what the whole book is about, but her whole story of how that came to be was just so fascinating. I found myself relating to her and feeling so sorry for her because you can easily see where things went wrong and imagine how different of a person she would be if things turned out differently. :,(
Book you read on your birthday:
I included this book in my 2018 stats cuz I started it in December, but I didn’t have a chance to finish it until January 2019, and according to Goodreads I read part of it on January 2nd, which is a day before my birthday so that’s as close as I can get cuz I don’t think I read anything actually on my birthday. XD
Book you weren’t entirely truthful about when rating (Fluff up any ratings? Rated even though you didn’t finish?):
Hmmm, maaaaybe Between the Lines could’ve been a 3 or 3.5 instead of a 4? I really don’t know.
Book you wish you could go back and read for the first time again:
Oh man this was another one that was hard to choose! I definitely think Graceling, My Lady Jane, or Sky in the Deep would’ve been good answers for this too, but I decided to go with Heartless because I was SO intrigued about how and what could’ve possibly happened to Cath to turn her into such a bloodthirsty villain. I could always reread it, but I know it won’t be as fun because now I already know the answer to that.
Most books read by one author this year:
Okay Goodreads apparently took away the most read authors feature so that’s really annoying and made this harder, though I guess not that hard because I could only could come up with two, but I went with My Lady Jane and My Plain Jane cuz they are both in the same companion series by the same three authors.
Happiest & saddest:
It’s gotta be this one. I laughed so hard and just loved the writing and characters and literally everything about it!
There was a character’s death in here I didn’t see coming and it just made me really sad.
Longest & shortest…
Shortest is Warcross; one word with 8 letters.
Longest is The Day the World Came to town with 7 words.
From buying to reading:
Okay I don’t track how long I’ve owned books like at all, so these are just complete guesses. XD
Shortest I think is Sorcery of Thorns because it was in the June Fairyloot box and I started reading it in August, so that’s only a couple of months. That’s like the fastest time I’ve ever picked up a book from buying to reading it in my life I think. XD I wasn’t originally planning to read it that soon, but Bookmarked chose it as their book club book and I really wanted an excuse to participate so I did. Sadly I ended up DNFing it though. Oh well. 😛
Longest is probably most likely this one because it’s a series I’ve grown up reading since I was little. It’s also one of the ones I know I’ve owned for yeeeaaaars and finally got around to reading this year so honestly I have no idea. It could’ve been any of those. XD
Best & worst…
Books you read/your rating:
Best: (5 stars)
Worst: (1 star)
I mean I only read two series finales and I liked them both, so I’m just going to say I liked this one best out of the two. XD
First & last…
Reads of 2019:
Isn’t satisfying that is has the word last in the title and it happened to be my last book of the year? XD
Books on your bookcase (1st book on the top left and last book on the bottom right):
Fandom you joined & one you abandoned:
For now, I’m hopping on the Throne of Glass train! I’m a little worried I’ll end up not liking it about halfway through like some people, which is scary cuz this series is like a HUGE commitment. XD But after the first book, I’m definitely intrigued (I feel like I’ve used this word a lot lately. 😛 ) and I liked the characters more than I was expecting. 🙂 I’m planning on reading Assassin’s Blade next and I’m excited to get to it sometime this year!
I did think this was a good book, and I was going to read the sequel cuz I really wanted to know what happens, but honestly the worldbuilding of this was just too real and anxiety inducing so I changed my mind and decided to just leave it here because I just don’t think I can handle it.
I feel like I was maybe a little harsh with all the books I DNF’d that I gave one star. XD But one star is only ones I REALLY didn’t even like enough to finish. I could just not rate DNF’s, but ones where it was more because of my tastes and not necessarily the book’s fault I don’t rate.
Most hyped & furthest under the radar that you read:
Okay this makes no sense because I checked Goodreads right at the end of the year and it said the most popular was To Kill A Mockingbird with over a million people? And I look now and it says Throne of Glass with a lot less and I didn’t delete any books or anything so I have no idea what happened. O.o
Book you read that is red:
Starts with X, Y, or Z:
W is the closest I could get.
Book you hugged when you finished it:
I know there is at least one book I literally hugged when I finished it but I can’t remember what it was. I think maybe this one?
Book you wanted to throw across a room:
I think if any, it would’ve been this one because it made me the most mad. I didn’t hate it, but just that ending I was really not happy with.
Food you craved while/after reading a certain book:
There’s a scene where Celeste cooks a fancy pesto spaghetti dinner for her friends and OMG it made me soooooo hungry cuz I love pesto and pasta! 😛 😛 😛
Book that became an instant go-to recommendation:
DEFINITELY this one! I think it has something for everyone and I love it so much. 😀
Forced yourself to finish:
This was kind of hard to get through, but I’m glad I did finish it cuz I liked the bittersweet ending and I think it’s worth reading at least once despite all the annoying things all through it.
Series or author’s works you binged:
I don’t normally binge things, so these two were the closest I came because I wasn’t originally planning on reading either of these both in the same year but I did and I really loved them!
December Wrap Up + January/2019 Goals on my old blog.
The 12 Days of Bookmas Tag prompt for Bookending Winter.
Number of posts:
98! 84 here and 14 on my old blog up until March when I moved to WordPress. 😀
Post you wish you could re-write:
Idk, I’m sure I was lazy for some and they could’ve been better.
