*Now without further ado, the tag! (Btw, I decided to skip a few questions this year that I usually don’t really have an answer for. :P)
Best book you’ve read so far this year:
I have a hard time deciding between these two because I had the most fun reading Passenger, and it came so close to being 5 stars except for a couple of small things, and Starfish’s writing was just so perfect and oh gosh I related so closely to Kiko’s whole life in different ways and just man it was such a good book. XD So it ended up being my first 5 star book of the year. (And only one so far. O.o )
Best sequel you’ve read so far this year:
I was glad I read this for the most part. In terms of just sequels and not finales that I’ve read so far, this was probably the best! I enjoyed it a lot better than Glass Sword which I struggled through, and I’m glad that the characters grew and the world expanded a little cuz that was fun to read. If only they didn’t kinda ruin things again with that terrible ending. XD
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to:
These ones! I have an ARC of Queen’s Assassin, I just bought the prequel the other day, and I still need a copy of My Lady Jane, but I’m planning to get to all of these this year!
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
This one sounds soooo cool, and it has such a pretty cover! It’s also by the same author as Sky in the Deep which is probably one of my favorite books ever so I’m pretty interested. 😀
*SIGH* The concept of this was so cool, but the execution was just so terrible.
I don’t think I was expecting to like this as much as I did! I loved the writing, the characters, the time travel, crazy plot twists, pretty much almost everything. It has become one of my favorites!
Favorite new author. (Debut or new to you.)
Probably this one. The writing was just so good, and I saw so much of myself in Kiko and this made me feel SO MANY THINGS! I was pretty much interested in all her books she has out, but I think I decided that Summer Bird Blue would be too sad for me. I just wanted to read it cuz it’s set in Hawaii and that would’ve been cool. 😛 But I might give Harley in the Sky a try?
Newest favorite character(s).
These were awesome strong characters that I definitely felt a connection to. 🙂
- Etta Spencer from Passenger
- Kiko Himura from Starfish
- Melody from Out of My Mind
- Eliza Mirk from Eliza and Her Monsters
Book that made you cry.
I mean, I kinda didn’t want to count it cuz I didn’t cry until after I finished it? But yeah, it definitely got me thinking about some stuff I have gone/am going through in my own life.
Book that made you happy.
I mean…if I’m being perfectly honest. XD What other book says “pure adorable fluffy happiness” than a book for preschoolers about woodland animals starting a bookclub? XD
Favorite review you’ve written this year.
Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received so far this year.
Technically I got this for Christmas, but I didn’t open it until my birthday in January so it counts. XD But it’s still the prettiest new book I’ve gotten so far this year! IRL it’s got silver foil everywhere and it’s just so so beautiful. ❤
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
The new releases.
Ones I own I should probably finally get to. (Or reread in My Lady Jane’s case.)
Some audiobooks I’ve been thinking about renting on Libby.
And some I might get at the library. 🙂
