The Fantasy Winter Retreat Book Tag

I don’t know about you, but I could definitely use a retreat right about now. :/ Luckily, Jayati @ It’s Just A Coffee Addicted Bibliophile tagged me in this Fantasy Winter Bookish Retreat tag, (that I planned to do like a month ago, oops) so I can pretend to go on one with fictional characters!

Everyone’s talking about spring coming, and though the sunlight is starting to get it’s warmth back, I know the snow won’t melt for good here in Alaska until at least early/mid April, so it’s not too late for a winter themed tag. Also, the Iditarod starts this weekend! 😉 You’d definitely need snow for that. 😛 I don’t know who the creator of this tag is, but if you want to read Jayati’s, you can here. 🙂

Description: You get to go on a week-long retreat to chill and have fun after the stressful 2020 experience. Set the scene of your dream winter retreat and, using the prompts, round up the characters you’d like to vacation with!

What my retreat would look like:

This is a real place that’s only an hour and a half away from me that I saw on instagram and oh I WISH I could afford to stay here! D:

A fun character who’s presence would cheer up any situation:

Hmm, I think I’m going to go with Justin for this one. He seems pretty fun-loving. 🙂

A character who would parent everyone:

Probably Marilyn, because she’s actually a mom. 😛

A character who would plan games and other activities:

Definitely Nonna. She’d keep things interesting. XD

A character who would rather cozy up in blankets & sleep/laze around all day:

I think Fire. After all the events of this book, I think she’d appreciate just being able to relax.

A character who had to cancel other plans to be here:

Definitely Brigan. He’s always busy and away on long trips, you know, being the commander of the army and all. He’d have to blow off the war to be here. He deserves a vacation. XD

A character who brought their work along with them:

Idk, the best I could think of was maybe Stevie? I feel like no matter where she is she would always be thinking about how to solve the Ellingham case. 😛

A character who would not leave their partner’s side:

Archer. He’s so possessive of Fire, and if he was there he’d definitely want to be close to her and know what she’s doing. :/

A character who is amused by everyone’s antics:

I think Guinevere. Since she doesn’t remember much of where she came from, she always seems fascinated by humans and their lives and culture around her.

What characters would you want to invite to go on a winter retreat with you? Have you read any of these books?

  1. Oh goodness! This place looks wonderful indeed 🥰 the pictures and the cover picture makes me think of my current read One by One by Ruth Ware 😅

I also am with you on that one.. Canada sadly don’t get rid of our snow until like june 🥲 I wish it’d leave sooner rn ahaha

Yess Nonna!! When I saw the cover I was thinking about Olivia- but that’s also quite a better answer, actually.

    1. Oh that’s interesting, hopefully nothing scary like in that book would happen here. XD

Wow, you must live up in the mountains then. I live in a valley, so most of the snow on the ground is gone by May, but in the mountains there can be snowbanks in June, even if it’s warm out.

YES! XD I actually did think of Olivia first for some reason, but I wasn’t sure if it’d be accurate, and Nonna is the one that came up with the whole blind date thing in the first place, so… 😛

      1. Nope, no mountain 😅 We just get generally colder weather, which is even worst in my native town up north because it’s seashore— the sea near make the wind colder and such, so they get even more snow than we do xd keep in mind we were in -20 celcius this week, « nicer » weather being around zero for winter — it only really starts getting warmer +15-20 celcius only in late july/august..

      2. Ahahah no it’s pure ice 😅 if it helps, it gets so thick that we usually put little cabins on top of the ice for ice-fishing :3 which I kinda miss that from back home… love me some smelts! So much harder to find them here 🥲 specially freshly caught (because duh- we are more in the woods than near the sea.. though theres one 1-2hrs away)
